Little Hero

I watched last Thursday the 3-D movie "Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga'Hoole". I went with my grandchildren to treat them in the two weeks of school holidays. I will not be able to do a sensible review of this movie. And I'm not even going to make an attempt because I slept for most of the time with my 3D glasses on. The kids seemed to have enjoyed it. I don't really know if I don't enjoy movies like this anymore. I certainly enjoyed Avatar which was mostly animation. Could it be that I was just to tired? Could it be that I just needed the snooze right there and then even if I had to fork out $20 for my own ticket, not to mention the tickets of the kids. I can tell two things about the movie however. One, it is about the triumph of good over evil. And two, the ordinary can become heroes. And this tells me two things. One, it is better to be on the good side, because the bad side eventually gets defeated. It might give the impression of winning for a time but sooner or later, the bad side suffers a humiliating defeat. Two, an ordinary person like me can be a hero. I do not have to be great now to be a hero. Being a hero is a process, not an end. I am still a hero in the making. While there is still life in me, I still have the chance. And being a hero is not always with doing big things anyway. I can be a hero in small things. I can be a hero that nobody even recognises. It will only be me who will know it. But it doesn't really matter. We should all live this life heroically no matter what life brings us. It is do with how we respond to situations and be the best hero we can be under the circumstances. We can be conquerors in what appears to be a defeat. We can be heroes amidst thousands of arrows flying all around. Stand up and fight, little hero!
